Performer Denies Anti-Vaccine Stance After Narrating Controversial Pandemic Film
Liam Neeson has lent his narration to a feature-length documentary that questions the safety of vaccinations and commends one-time health official the political figure.
The Film's Contentious Basis
Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is based on a well-known publication published by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the global outbreak for claims that Covid was a result of a bad strain of the flu vaccine.
The book's co-author, a producer, has penned books with conspiracy-prone radio host the Infowars host. Heckenlively wrote online praising Neeson's participation in the film.
A Strong Rebuttal
A spokesperson for the actor have provided a comment pushing back against suggestions that he subscribes to anti-immunization views.
"Many understand that corruption may occur within the pharmaceutical industry, but that cannot be conflated with being against vaccines," the statement states. "He is not, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His extensive work with the UN children's agency reinforces his long-held support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The statement noted that the actor had no hand in the film's messaging and that inquiries about its content ought to go to the producers.
Major Assertions In the Film
According to the documentary, the narration provided by Neeson includes several controversial points:
- It states that pro-vaccine voices have called for "blind obedience" to public institutions.
- It argues that "research has become deeply politicised."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is featured stating, "The big problem with vaccines is that they just aren't safely tested."
- The narration also criticizes Covid lockdowns, claiming they caused severe distress that cost thousands of lives.
- On the topic of the immunizations, it references a report that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Previous Controversy and Ongoing Debates
The documentary further cites a past television report about HIV drug testing on children, which was subsequently the topic of a formal apology by the corporation for unbalanced reporting.
In recent weeks, Kennedy called on the CDC to revise its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism. This assertion is echoed in the documentary, despite a new report from the World Health Organisation stating no such link has been found.
A Past Position of Support
Contrasting the documentary's message, Neeson has formerly shown firm endorsement for vaccines in his position as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he described vaccines as "an extraordinary human success story," stating that "The debate about vaccines in the past few years has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in our history."
The documentary ends with Neeson's voice stating, "This isn't the conclusion of our journey. It is the dawn of a new chapter."
