A defense official has stated that the Ministry of Defence is actively examining the possible threats associated with Chinese-made vehicles, and staff have been instructed to refrain from talking about secret matters in all vehicles.
Security Advice for MoD Staff
In a recently aired interview on LBC, Luke Pollard commented on reports that MoD officials have been instructed not to discuss secret material while riding in Chinese cars.
He said that the ministry is “examining” Chinese vehicles within its vehicle pools, however stressed that security is a concern in every modern cars.
Our department has a collection of thousands of cars in the Ministry of Defence and those vehicles account for a very small number.
But regardless of if you’re traveling in a vehicle from China or a non-Chinese car, our instruction to our people is not to plug Ministry of Defence technology into their car, not to have discussions at a classified classification in any vehicle, due to the growing threats of eavesdropping that are present in every single automobile, to restrict those secret talks in protected areas. That’s a wise and reasonable thing for everyone worried about security.
After it was put to him that it would be wise for the MoD to stop using all Chinese vehicles, Pollard responded: That is precisely what we are looking into at the present time.”

This revelation follows reports from Norway and Denmark have alerted the United Kingdom to the presence of dual-use shutdown mechanisms in Chinese-made buses, which could allow the Chinese government to switch off public transport and cause chaos to transport systems.
Additionally, a Russia intelligence vessel has been directing laser beams at RAF pilots, labeled a “highly dangerous” act by government representatives.
