Major Russian Strikes Cut Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were wounded while residents in the city's east were experienced blackouts and faced disruption to drinking water, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while officials has requested "real steps" from allies to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not window dressing but firm measures - from the United States, Europe and the major economies - in supplying defensive weapons and enforcing restrictions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty missiles attacked energy facilities, describing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to fix the damage.

A series of attacks damaged power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Several of the people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from municipal representatives.

Local officials said the city came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A minor lost their life and three other people were injured.

The assaults succeed nights of air raids in the area, portions of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to identify.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already affecting energy systems.

He said technical personnel and government agencies were anticipating additional strikes.
