'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the dramatic closing stages of Swansea's epic comeback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range shot from outside the box, and his teammate quickly hammered in the rebound before sprinting toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result sealed an unbelievable turnaround given Swansea had trailed 2-0 midway through the second half. During the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory earned a fourth-round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for having a go from that range," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right wing-back after Orient changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the City players who paid tribute to the way the underdogs approached the match.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they understand how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're all right and then suddenly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and focus just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a popular figure across two seasons at his former club and has rapidly achieved similar status in south Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at lower division the Manchester club, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was probably a bit naive going into men's football. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for club and country, excelling for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his father, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

His sole appearance for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was closed owing to conditions of freezing cold. "This represented a extended travel and it was cold out there," he recalls, chuckling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a small coach driven by academy staff, the transport team, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, Ronald, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to spend time with the guys but I'm hoping to be the following person to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on the Tube after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
