Iran Claims Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
