England's Coach Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Participation
The bowler's most recent Test match for the Kiwis was versus England in December 2024.
England fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be at the forthcoming Ashes contest in Australia.
The ex- Kiwi seamer is only likely to be available for the first Test due to his participation in the ILT20 competition, which begins on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
Southee, 36, assumed a role as England's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after taking 391 wickets in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Commenting as the English squad for the first of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was named, Southee stated of his participation: "We're still working through that at the moment.
"We'll see what happens over the coming days."
English bowling legend Stuart Broad had declared the Australian team as their "weakest squad since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over what to expect during the series, which starts on November 21.
"In my view there's at any time a poor Australian cricket team," he said.
"Our focus is squarely on our own objectives. I think the quality of [the English] side that's going out to Australia is excellent.
"It should be an absolute cracker, that series. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
However, prior to the English team travel to Perth for the first Ashes match, they take on New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
