19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.
Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after March of that year.
Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to get a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
His counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.
However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved service.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.
The opponent defended 4 initial break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
