The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with employing the full worth of seized Russia's funds to aid the Ukrainian war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany emphasized that this coordinated action would increase strain on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the decision would be executed in tight collaboration with the US.

United Kingdom restrictions have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russian funds since Russia began its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. But, previously, money allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russian holdings had exclusively been taken from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and Germany were aligned in their desire to advance efforts toward employing the full value of the immobilized Russia's state funds to conclude the conflict.

He added that further measures in the coming days and weeks would increase the strain on the Russian government.

This statement comes after EU leaders gathered in Copenhagen previously to discuss using frozen Russia's assets for a 140-billion-euro financial aid to Ukraine.

Last month, US President Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to confiscate or otherwise use frozen Russian holdings, according to media sources.

The value of frozen Russian assets in the EU is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

The Russian government launched large-scale missile and drone strikes throughout the Ukrainian territory on Friday, leading to blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

Two people were lost their lives and no fewer than 20 people were wounded in the attack, authorities in Ukraine stated.

In a message on social media after the strike, Zelensky stated that the strategic strike focused on non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not mere statements but firm measures - from the America, Europe, and the seven nations - in delivering air defence systems and implementing sanctions," he emphasized.

"All penalty impositions weakens the Russian war effort," Zelensky declared, in a additional update.

Also on Friday, Zelensky stated to reporters he would encourage Sir Keir to enter the Purl program, under which Nato countries buy military equipment from the US to give to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the UK's strong support for Ukraine, he remarked it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the program, as well as enforce more restrictions on the Russian Federation.
